Young Leaders Society 101

Posted on behalf of Ingrid Schwab, Programs Coordinator for The Rotary Foundation of Rotary International and YLS member.    On Tuesday, October 4th, the United Way of Metropolitan Chicago Young Leaders Society hosted a 101 session for prospective members. This free event, hosted by the YLS Member Development Committee, was open to anyone who wanted to learn more about United Way and the Young Leaders Society. The evening began with a brief overview of United Way and YLS. One of our YLS committee members, Tregg Duerson, then gave a short testimonial on his experience with YLS and what drives him to give, advocate, and volunteer in the Chicago community. Following his testimonial, the group divided into small breakout groups giving attendees a chance to ask questions with YLS committee members, find out  how they can get involved and offer suggestions on future YLS events. The evening ended with informal networking with complimentary wine and cheese. YLS will hold a similar event in February 2012; stay tuned for details!
