YLS Member Spotlight: Tanja Lazarevic
Tanja Lazarevic grew up in Milwaukee and attended the University of Wisconsin before making the move south to Chicago. She works for Groupon, one of the city’s most innovative and buzzed about companies. Read on to learn about the work she is doing to help Erie House develop a Manager Training Service, why United Way is the right non-profit for her, and her favorite Chicago summer pastimes.
Why did you join YLS and what is your current role with YLS?
As a recent transplant from Madison, WI, I wanted to gain a better understanding of my new community and find opportunities to support local organizations by volunteering my time and skills. I was a member of the Volunteer Committee last year and this year my role is Executive Vice Chair.

Tell us about that role and what some of your goals are for this year?
As Executive Vice Chair, I work closely with Angie Wells and the Executive Committee to lead YLS and support the Committees in achieving our goals. As a part of the Leadership Development Team, I strive to engage and network with Premier Members to increase support and understanding of United Way’s LIVE UNITED 2020 vision, and to host CEO Fireside Chats and Leadership Panels.
There are so many good non-profit opportunities. What makes YLS the right option for you?
YLS is full of passionate, talented people and the energy is contagious and focused on efforts in the community that need the most support. United Way is a great platform for change and it is exciting to be an integral part of the change through YLS.

What are your favorite things about YLS?

Most recently, I have been partnering with the Human Resources team at Erie House to help develop a Manager Training Series to provide the skills training and resources managers need to succeed, just as they provide skill-building and access to critical resources to the community to fulfill their mission and empower others to reach their fullest potential.
