United Way Worldwide CEO Brian Gallagher: Limit Charitable Deductions, and the Poor Will Pay

In recent weeks, the charitable deduction has been a hot topic in the non-profit and political worlds. While non-profits are experiencing increasing need from their communities, federal and state governments are considering a tax law that would cap charitable deductions. Recent studies indicate that a cap on the deduction could result in loss of charitable giving of $2.9 billion to $5.6 billion each year. United Way Worldwide CEO Brian Gallagher went before the Senate Finance Committee October 18 to urge congress to preserve charitable giving. Gallagher also posted a column in USA Today explaining the importance of charitable deductions and giving. Read Brian Gallagher’s column in USA Today here. Photo Credit: Moacir P. de Sá Pereira
