Tocqueville Society Member Spotlight: Paul Gallagher, Deloitte

paul_gallagher_march13Where did you grow up and where did you go to school?

I grew up and went to school in the Northeast; my family lived on Long Island until I was 18, when we moved to Central New Jersey.

When did you first realize the importance of giving back?

When I was in college, I was very struck by the poverty and homelessness statistics in our country.   I began getting involved raising money and serving at food banks and soup kitchens.

Why do you give to United Way?

My contribution, combined with other contributions from my fellow United Way supporters, is invested in our future success.

United Way leverages the talents and expertise of board leadership to fund the highest priority needs in a given area.   The partnerships between United Way and agencies provide a powerful way to leverage the talents and contributions of United Way Board Members and supporters.

How and why do you volunteer with United Way?

I’m privileged to serve as the President of the Northwest Suburban United Way Board of Directors.   It’s a highly talented group of people doing great things in our community.

What are your interests outside of work?

Spending time with my wife, three boys, and three dogs!
