Local corporations rock out in support of United Way

On Monday, October 5, three of United Way of Metropolitan Chicago’s top corporate partners joined together with United Way of Metropolitan Chicago to provide a night of music and entertainment in support of local families and communities.

Bands comprised of employees from Northern Trust, Exelon, Mesirow Financial and United Way battled it out for the “best band” top honor in front of a crowd of more than 250 people in Northern Trust’s courtyard. The event was hosted by Ryan Chiaverini of ABC7’s Windy City Live. Chiaverini opened the show by joining the opening band on guitar and lead vocals.

“United Way is proud to have such dedicated and creative corporate partners,” said Wendy DuBoe, President and CEO of United Way of Metropolitan Chicago. “This event is a perfect example of companies and people from across the city coming together to highlight and support the work that United Way does to help our neediest individuals and families.”

At the end of the evening, the celebrity judges of the event—Tim Smithe of Walter E. Smith Furniture + Design, Abby Wagner of Second City and Peter Hawley of Tribeca Flashpoint College—named Mesirow Financial’s “Cassius King” as the winner of the battle. They received a platinum record trophy and the opportunity to open for the New Lenox Triple Play concert in 2016.

The event was sponsored by Northern Trust, Tribeca Flashpoint College, Henson Consulting, Keystone Production Group, and the Village of New Lenox.

A special thank you to all of our sponsors, the bands, emcee, judges and event contributors for making this such an epic event!
